Destinations to view in Germany

There are many towns worth visiting in Germany, and I want you to discover some pointers about 4 fascinating destinations on the country's map. Many travelers will have not heard about them, but they will surely fancy what they will come across with. They are tiny cities, but they are considered valuable gems for men and women who desire to arrive to wonderful regions, relax and unwind. There are, in general, German visitors going to these places, but all tourists are warmly greeted.

Let's begin our journey with Bad Reichenhall, a spa-town that leaves you with the feeling it's been transported into the real world directly out of Brothers Grimm stories. With a population of about 20000 inhabitants, this town is regarded as an Eden for spa lovers. The Bavarian health resort Bad Reichenhall stands amidst magnificent nature settings. It is at the base of the Alps, and it will let you go through a cool mix of nature, health and culture. Renowned due to the large deposits of salt in the surrounding mountains, it was one of this decade's most appreciated spa and holiday destinations in Bavaria. Even if we don't consider the thermal baths, this city offers guests attractive activities like golfing, tennis, hiking and the cultural events the mayor often organize.

Baden Baden is another spa-city, a big competitor for Bad Reichenhall in this field. Baden Baden is known better outside the country, and it's obvious because of the coming of the former president of the USA, Bill Clinton, who stated, before leaving that Baden Baden was a town so lovely they had to name it twice. As a matter of fact, "baden" is German for "bath", so Mr Clinton didn't exactly know what he was talking about, but the idea is that this comment was very flattering for that tiny spa-resort in Baden-Wurttemberg. It also is rich in history and the centuries old structures and churches you can admire there are a testament of the locals' proud heritage.

Then again, tourism in Straslund concentrates on history, culture and knowledge. It is a perfect place for people who would like to understand more about the country in the Dark Ages or the curiosities of the sea. Totally different from one another, but these two themes live well together in Straslund. This is a traditional Hanseatic city, and the local council have restored almost all town edifices which draw near the impressive brick churches, which are also mended. There is a wide range of valuable traces of the influence of the Hanseatic League, which travelers can discover when going there. Also, another architectural influence that distinguishes numerous edifices in this place derives from the Swedish culture.

At last, we are in Hennigsdorf, a small town very close to Berlin. It really is border-to-border with Germany's capital. It's the perfect place to stay if you wish to visit Berlin, due to the fact that, in contrast with the big metropolis, it's peaceful, relaxing and most of all, provides cheap accommodation. A great deal of visitors annually choose to book a room in a hotel in this town, seeing it as a launch pad for their touring raids in Berlin. But, obviously, Hennigsdorf has attractions of its own, like water tourism, well designed bicycle routes and lovely green surroundings.

Marksmen's Festival in Germany

This custom originated back in time about five hundred to six hundred years ago at a time when the knights' powers were declined and marksmen chiefly headed each village's security and were instrumental in prevention of enemy attacks. Archery contests took precedence over contest between the knights.

With time, this custom evolved and each village started carrying it out in their own individual style, while it gathered popular and festive items such as folk dances, costume competitions, food parties and so on. Today it has evolved to become a festival that almost attracts the same enthusiasm and involvement as Christmas or New Year celebrations.

At the festival, the marksmen are given a target to shoot at which is usually a wooden portrayal of an eagle. Many awards, medals and cups have been gifted while on is chosen as the champion, and chosen as the king of all marksmen until next year. While each village holds this festival in its individual way and at a time suited to them, the biggest festival in Germany takes place at Hannover in the first Sunday in July and competitors and viewers flock from all over the world, nearly filling up most of Hannover Germany hotels.

It is a commercially backed event and usually has a batch of around 5000 marksmen taking part. The world's largest parade can also be witnessed here as the marksmen's parade with over 12,000 participants joining from all over the world with over 100 bands and spans a distance of about 12km long. The chief attraction and perhaps the most exciting item is the Ferris wheel which is the world's highest transportable one with 60 meters of height.

At this time of year, finding accommodation in a Hannover hotel can be a bit of a daunting task. Copthorne Hotel Hannover is a popular choice for its distinctly superior standards in service and hospitality and extensive provision for accommodation with over 222 rooms and suites available

The major European capitals

Berlin offers a variety of attractions to the avid tourist. As the famous home of the Berlin Wall until its fall in 1989, you will not be surprised to hear that ‘Checkpoint Charlie', the best-known Berlin Wall crossing point between the East and West sides of the city during the Cold War, has become one of modern Berlin's biggest tourist attractions, even in its new location in the Allied Museum in Dahlem. Berlin offers far more purely in the way of historical structures than even remnants of the Cold War, however, such as the similarly world famous Brandenburg Gate.

The city is also a focal point for international culture and media, with many theatres, opera houses, galleries and museums being based here. There are also many popular festivals in addition to a lively nightlife and top local, national and international cuisine. There are also many attractions here for sports fans, such as the Olympiastadion. Those who have a thirst for nature, meanwhile, will love exploring the various forests, gardens, parks, lakes and rivers that make up around one third of the city's territory.

Rich history and Culture of Germany

Germany is a beautiful country teeming with a rich history and an even richer culture. Its landscape is filled with a variety of different atmospheres-- it has the charms of sophisticated big cities, the picturesque visage of small towns, the fascinating qualities of pagan-inspired harvest festivals, a vast array of truly interesting art, history and culture, the wild allure of huge tracts of forests, old and elegant castles, and of course, the German food culture of ever-flowing wine and beer.

Located in the very heart of Europe, Germany is known all over the world as its history is deeply ingrained in several nations world wide, not just in modern times (such as the world wars) but on continental history as well. Its wide berth of historical events include the great Charlemagne and the Holy Roman Empire, the Otto von Bismarck's German Reich, Nazism, the rise and fall of the Berlin Wall, has shaped Europe in a way no other nation has done-- whether for better or worse.

When traveling to Germany, most people make it a point to visit sites that hold much historical value. Germany is a good vacation destination all year round, though it would seem that most tourists tend to visit around the months of May to September, where there is much sun and more activities occuring outdoors. Some also stay til October to experience authentic German Oktoberfest, where every corner offers free-flowing beer up the wazoo. May to October are also the months with the most festivals, which explains why its the time of choice of many tourists.

The flipside of going to Germany during the summer is really contending with the massive number of other tourists-- meaning larger crowds in attractions, more traffic, and possibilities of running out of accommodations-- though this is very rare. Months after October and before May, while having less tourists, enjoy other benefits, such as lowered accommodation prices, and more consistently pleasant weather.

For fun and excitement, tourists will have plenty to look forward to. There is no closing hours in plenty of Germany's food and drink establishments-- beer gardens and a variety of cafes are open 24/7. Festivals and other outdoor events bring much color to cities and villages, and offer precious sounds, smells and sights to delight even the hardiest of visitors. Athletic tourists will be delighted with the endless opportunities for physical activities-- hiking, swimming, cycling, rappeling, and even extreme sports such as bungee jumping.

Ofcourse, most outdoor activities rely on weather, so pray that the weather forecast gives good news on the day of your plans. Germany is a place that can't be encapsulated in a series of paragraphs, so it is truly best to grab the chance to experience it in all its finery when the opportunity comes.

Castle Neuschwanstein Famous Castle in Germany

The castle Neuschwanstein is one of the most famous palaces ever created. It is located in southern Germany, and it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Germany. Germany is known for their cold winters and mild summers, but the Republic of Germany has a rich history too. It dates back thousands of years to the Germanic tribes that lived in the region during the Roman Empire. In more recent times, Germany saw the completion of several castles during the 19th century. While Neuschwanstein Castle is the most famous castle in Germany, there are other castles you can visit too.

Dachau Palace: This castle was first established around the year 1100 in the German state of Bavaria. It was occupied by the Count of Dachau until 1182 when the last count died. The original castle was demolished in the late 1300s. In the 1500s, Duke of Bavaria William IV and Albert V ordered a new castle to be built at the same site. The castle was completed in 1577. It was occupied by the rulers of Bavaria for hundreds of years. Today, it is open for public viewing, and it also hosts public events throughout the year.

Schloss Hexenagger: Unlike the castle Neuschwanstein, this castle is not open to public viewing on a regular basis. It is open for public events at select times of the year. It has been mentioned in historical documents dating back to 982. It was destroyed during the Thirty Years War of the 1600s, and then it was rebuilt. Today the castle is privately owned, and visitors can see it during special events throughout the year.

Linderhof Palace: King Ludwig II never got to see the completion of castle Neuschwanstein, but he did get to see the completion of Linderhof Palace. As luck would have it, the Linderhof Palace was the only one of the castles that King Ludwig II saw to completion. It is smaller than some of the other castles, but it is still a site to behold! The castle was very private, and only a handful of rooms of the palace had any real function.

Neuschwanstein Castle: This is easily the most famous castle in Germany. Tourists who come to tour the palaces of Europe always make the castle Neuschwanstein part of their travel plans. Millions of visitors come to the castle every year to see the magnificent architecture and vibrant colors included inside the castle. It was never finished before King Ludwig died, but he did stay here for the last couple years of his life. This magnificent palace is open to the public daily.

Be sure to check out the castle Neuschwanstein and the other castles when you plan your European holiday. International travelers need to make sure to book their tickets ahead of time. If you are visiting in the winter months, you should plan to go skiing at the Zugspitze mountain. During the summer months, there are many hiking trails you can walk. For the best accommodations, be sure to check out the awesome füssen hotels and resorts directly in the city of Füssen.
